The otherness and misleading of the audiovisual language according to Hidden by Michael Haneke

Abstract

From generative and tensive semiotics, and narratology, this
article discusses how the film director Michael Haneke’s Hidden
portrays otherness, that is, the vision of a subject over another,
other than him. Point of view, videographic / media figures and
cinematography are some of the aspects of the film that are
used to give a manipulatory, misleading and deceptive vision of
what is perceived as “different”: the foreign, the immigrant, the
“non-Western”.
