This article offers a reading of some of Peirce’s crucial reflection on time taking as its core the place of sensations and affections. More than the development of a Kantian vision on affection, the author points out an inflection in the group of Peircian reflection that brings it nearer to the Spinozian slant and, in turn, bestows a unique character within the universe of semiotics not only on the notion of temporality, but also on Peirce’s theory. The article also endeavors to explore some consequences in the ethical and aesthetic dimensions of this proposal starting from the redefinition on the pragmatic scopes of semiotics constructed on those bases.
