This text explains using a venerable problem of recreational
mathematics what means to “geometrize’’ and what advantage
may be obtained from such a process. It is shown that the meaning
of this verb is intimately related with the meaning of the
noun “space’’. A few criteria allowing to recognize that an object
of thought is a “space’’ are described.
