Postal iconography analysis requires not only the vision of the image as such, but also of the overall impression which the images convey by their various tangible forms. The perception of these forms implies being able to detect the “clouds” of images displayed over time and which would be impossible for an ordinary observer to distinguish. Even if in some cases this morphology seems to be evident, in most cases has to be reconfigured, extracted from the mass and positioned differently to make it readable. This is one of the functions of visual semiotics: to make visible, in an orderly and methodical way, that which in appearance is incorporeal and dispersed and to make the ethereal and the fleeting, intelligible. Revealing the forms of the "Spanish postage stamps" corpus contributes to developing iconographic analysis and to discovering underlying discourses, tinged with ideological overtones.
