Systemic functional linguistics (Halliday, 2003 [1979]) is based
on the conception that language is a potential of meaning that is
represented in different systems of options. In this work we will
analyze the range of the different aspects of meaning that permit
relating it with grammar, register and gender. Each of these
interdependent concepts will be characterized starting from the
meaning that they bear and we will propose an analysis of a
representative corpus to prove its effective functioning.
